This video shows everything about how to put on a rented tuxedo. When you get your tux, the shoes will be hanging in a bag on the outside of the bag. Inside the bag will be the coat, shirt, vest or cummerbund, tie, pants and studs and links. Socks will be in the inside coat pocket, and the pocket square should be on the outside pocket of the coat. Remove the studs and links from the bag. Leave the collar button alone and start with the next button hole. Put the studs through the holea. Insert the long end of the cufflinks through the hole so the jewelry end shows. Put on the shirt and fasten it with the studs, and secure the cufflinks. Formal pants should be worn at the waist and not the hips. To adjust the pants, use the clasps on each side. With a slider tie, loosen it to put it over your head, then slide the tie up by the knot to fit snugly. If the tie has an adjustable hook and buckle, lengthen the tie, wrap it around your neck and hood, and adjust it. If you have a bow tie with a wing collar shirt, loosen the tie to put it on, hook it, and adjust it to fit, with the tie lying on top of the wings of the collar. If a long tie is worn with a wing collar, the knot should be under the wings. Banded shirts are traditionally worn with button covers. Open the back of the button cover, slide the backing over the top button the shirt, and close it over the button. Open back vests can be adjusted for length and width with a straps at the neck and waist. Full back vests have elastic adjustments straps in the lining or a buckle strap in the back. Try on the vest and adjust to fit, then rebutton it. A cummerbund should be worn with the pleats opening upward and covers the waistband of the pants. It has an adjustment strap in the back with a buckle. Hold on to your shirt sleeves while putting on your coat. There are many unfamiliar pieces in formalwear, and this video will show you how each part should be worn.
